Students from the North College and Career Academy HOSA-Future Health Professionals team traveled to Villa Rica Elementary School to help spread the word about how to stay safe during flu season. This flu season is the worst in decades. According to USA Today, the death toll for children from flu hit 53 this month. The HOSA Community Awareness Team presented to a group of 200 third, fourth, and fifth grade students regarding the spread of germs and the importance of handwashing. This service project was designed to raise awareness of a health and safety issue of local, state and national interest. The HOSA students felt that the Influenza outbreak could be minimized if children were taught simple hand washing procedures to help keep them safe during flu season.
